Vlinder CT PLLC in Letter of the Week, letter of the week, review

February 17-21

...oh, yeah, and mid-winter break.  Do you have anything special planned for next week?  I hope you also find fun ways to sneak in some review!  We are 21 letter-sounds in: O, B, X, S, A, I, F, L, P, J, M, H, U, T, R, W, N, K, D, G, V.  With Monday a holiday and the week off from school, let's pause for some review.

If your child has some letter-sounds that are weaker or a challenge, focus in on those this week.

If your child seems to have a good handle on all of the letter-sounds we have targeted so far, focus on some phonological awareness skills like rhyming, figuring out how many syllables in words (clap or tap the beats), and identifying the first (or last) sound in words.

Check out this Olympic-themed craft/activity idea that you sould use for letters/sounds, rhyming and more.

Modify this Indoor Obstacle Course idea by Hands On As We Grow for letters, sounds, or other phonemic/phonological awareness skills.

APPS:

I recently came across this app review for Alph and Betty's Topsy Turvy World (focuses on teaching letters of the alphabet) from Smart Apps For Kids.  While it has some non-standard US English use, it looks intriguing.

I also recently saw this app review for LetterSounds 1 Pro from The Appy Ladies (focuses on teaching letter-sound relationships).

What ideas would you add to this list of review ideas?  Drop me a comment!  I'd love to hear.
