First day of therapy, trialing AAC during playdoh.  Rocked it!

Taking turns during activities offers natural opportunities to model, model, model!

Therapy done; time to go.  And a request for a stop off on the way home.

 

A current fascination with Finger Family YouTube videos led to an emerging understanding of the terms "brother" and "sister".  Once we figured out what he was so excitedly trying to tell me ("I am a brother!") we started working on family/relationship words with his talker.  And he sang (and sang and sang) the finger family nursery rhyme (which got even better when he discovered five Little People to play the roles).

• program the words (or phrases) in their device so they can more fully participate and say "Happy Halloween" and "Trick-or-Treat" like their peers

• print out low tech cards like these for your child to use to communicate as they are trick-or-treating
• record "trick-or-treat" on a single message voice output device
• role play/practice trick-or-treating; Treat Street is a fun app for iOS that you could use (iPad, iPhone)
